About Us
Welcome to Grand Timber Bank – Rooted in History, Here for You.
Our Story
Since the late 1800s, McGregor has been a hub of activity; due to the timber industry. However, the town of McGregor had been without a bank since the mid-1930s when the McGregor State Bank closed and its charter was moved to Howard Lake. About 20 years had passed before people began to talk about bringing a bank to McGregor once again. This charter was approved and the State Bank of McGregor opened its doors for business on March 31, 1963.
Originally located in the northern portion of the bowling alley building, the bank grew and a narrow addition was added to the north connecting it to the former Iverson garage building. The bank continued to grow, and in 1979, a log structure was built on the bank’s present site. Additionally, the name was changed to Grand Timber Bank in 2006. Originally a family-owned bank, Grand Timber Bank was acquired by MidCountry Acquisition Corporation (MAC) on December 3, 2021. While we now benefit from the resources and support of MAC, we remain committed to preserving the local identity that has defined us for decades. With assets of approximately $60 million and a dedicated team of 13 employees, we continue to provide personalized service and innovative financial solutions tailored to our customers’ needs.
